While representing the nation at the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in California, Saskatoon product Blake Tierney swam to secure two medals and earn August Athlete of the Month honours.
To open the event, Tierney had a breakout performance and claimed the top of the podium in the men’s 100-metre backstroke with a time of 53.18 seconds to secure Canada’s first gold medal of the Championships.
Later, he was back in the pool for the 200-m backstroke event and finished second with a time of 1:56:29 seconds.
Tierney was nominated by Swim Saskatchewan.
