Amy Prokop was named Chair of the Sask Sport Board of Directors on June 19.
Prokop has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2023 when she was nominated by the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Prokop served as the Vice Chair Lotteries on the Board in 2024-25. Prokop is active as an assistant soccer coach with the Huskies and is an advocate in sport for 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion.
The rest of the executive positions will be filled by Brittany Brunn as Vice Chair Sport, Bill Kinash as Vice Chair Trust Fund, Shawn Waskewitch as Vice Chair Lotteries and Brett Hines as Secretary/Treasurer. Kendra Farmer, Joel Brown and Mike Thorson also remain members of the Board.
Sask Sport would like to thank Luke Flegel, Mason Medynski and Colina Paul who completed their terms on the Board.
At the AGM, members of the sport federation officially elected five members to the Board:
- Jessie Buydens, nominated by Football Saskatchewan
- Brett Hines, nominated by Skate Canada Saskatchewan
- Dylan Kemp, nominated by Saskatchewan Lacrosse
- Korena LaFayette, nominated by Saskatchewan Athletics
- Rob Lovelace, nominated by Basketball Saskatchewan
Brett Hines served a three-year term and a one-year interim term on the Sask Sport Board of Directors and let his name stand for re-election. Lovelace, Buydens, LaFayette and Hines were all elected to three-year terms, while Kemp will serve two-year term after a vacancy from last year.
“On behalf of the board, I would also like to extend my gratitude to all Sask Sport member organizations for everything you do to support and promote amateur sport across Saskatchewan,” said 2024-25 Chair of the Board of Directors Luke Flegel.
“I would also like to take the time to thank the volunteers – coaches, officials, support staff and others who dedicated time and energy to ensuring athletes in Saskatchewan had an opportunity to compete, learn and develop as athletes and individuals. Without these volunteers, sport – especially multi-sport games – couldn’t happen.
“Also, thank you to the sponsors, partners and donors who have supported amateur sport in the province. Your financial and in-kind contributions have given athletes countless opportunities to participate in sport.”
