Job Purpose
Sask Sport is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Human Resources Advisor to join our team. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives on variety, values collaboration, and is passionate about building strong organizational culture. You will play a key role in recruitment, performance management, compensation, policy development and employee development initiatives that support our mission and people.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Employment Planning

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process—from job postings to onboarding—to attract high-quality talent.
  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and develop accurate, engaging job descriptions.
  • Coordinate interviews, assessments, and selection processes to ensure strong hiring decisions.

Performance Management

  • Coordinate the organization’s performance management program, including annual employee appraisals.
  • Maintain performance management templates and support probationary review processes.
  • Assist supervisors in conducting effective performance reviews and delivering constructive feedback.

Employee Development

  • Identify training and professional development opportunities for employees.
  • Research and apply for training grants to support learning initiatives.
  • Develop and implement HR programs that enhance organizational capacity and employee growth.

Compensation Administration

  • Assess and recommend improvements to Sask Sport’s total compensation program.
  • Support periodic salary scale reviews to ensure competitiveness and relevance.
  • Participate in compensation and reward surveys to benchmark against industry standards.
  • Conduct market research and compensation analysis to inform strategic planning.
  • Provide detailed total compensation insights to support decision-making.

Policy Development

  • Review and update the Personnel Policies & Procedures manual to ensure accuracy and legislative compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and services.
  • Provide guidance to management and staff on policy interpretation and application.
  • Maintain an up-to-date organizational chart to support clarity and alignment.

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to change management initiatives with HR expertise and support.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams and committees to promote collaboration and innovation.
  • Use HR data and analytics to support strategic planning and performance improvement.
  • Respond to internal and external HR inquiries.
  • Perform additional related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business with a major in Human Resource Management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources or a related field.

Certifications

  • CPHR designation or active progress toward it is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, best practices and current employment legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and facilitate effectively.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and comfort working with web-based platforms.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide meaningful insights to support planning and decision-making.

Working Conditions

  • Able to lift between 10-35lbs
  • Reliable mode of transportation and valid driver’s license
